Barcode scanning in industrial environments presents challenges that conventional scanners often struggle to handle: damaged codes, direct part marking, and labels printed on reflective or curved surfaces. These situations are common in automotive, electronics, logistics, and medical applications, where every read failure can slow down operations.

Newland’s NVH220 Lophius AI, now available from Diltronic in a Bluetooth version, addresses this challenge by integrating AI-assisted barcode detection into an industrial handheld scanner for the first time. The system combines Newland’s proprietary UIMG technology with self-learning computer vision algorithms. The device analyzes, locates, and interprets barcodes—including codes created using laser marking or direct part marking (DPM) by dot peen—while progressively adapting to the specific conditions of each work environment.
In addition to AI capabilities, the NVH220 features a triple-illumination system with red, blue, and diffuse white LEDs that automatically adjusts to the scanned surface. This self-learning function, activated using a dedicated button, optimizes brightness and light source in real time based on the material, contrast, and curvature of the surface, without operator intervention.
In terms of performance, the scanner uses a 1280×800 CMOS sensor and a dual-core platform, delivering a scanning resolution of 1.25 mil for 1D codes and 2.82 mil for 2D codes. Its Bluetooth 5.0 version provides reliable transmission over distances of up to 150 meters, with more than 17 hours of continuous operation and up to 60,000 scans per charge. The IP64-rated housing is resistant to dust and water splashes and withstands repeated drops from 1.8 meters.
The NVH220 Lophius AI is certified to CE, FCC, RoHS 2.0, and ISO 16750 standards. It comes with a standard three-year warranty, extendable to five years, and includes a charging cradle, USB cable, and AC adapter.
The product is designed for system integrators and industrial companies seeking reliable scanning performance in conditions where conventional scanners reach their limits. Diltronic provides distribution, technical consulting, and support from France.
